It comes as no surprise to me that my opponent in the race for Governor of Massachusetts was able to raise $90,000 from folks in the healthcare industry. What surprises me is that he hasn’t raised more.
For instance, my opponent in the race for Massachusetts Governor has a plan for reforming Massachusetts healthcare, and that calls for re-structuring the current healthcare program into a managed care model. Â Everyone knows, especially my opponent, that managed care generally equals caps on payments and more restrictions on providers. Â In other words, this system protects hospitals’ and insurers’ bottom line at the expense of physicians and patients.
If elected Governor of Massachusetts, I plan on focusing on clear, patient-centered and fiscally responsible solutions. Â I believe in reform, such as allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines, letting individuals purchase health savings accounts, tort reform, and investigating the constant double-digit increases in our Massachusetts health insurance premiums over the past ten years by HMOs and other “nonprofit” organizations (like Harvard Pilgrim) are essential for empowering patients and saving money.
These are real solutions for real people, and not the people in Big Business and Big Government that my opponent would support if elected governor. Â I’ve proven in the past that I can’t be bought, but Baker is up for sale. Â Please join me in my fight to become Governor of Massachusetts and take back Beacon Hill!
